On the 24th April 2015 60 pupils from Holt School, Jubilee High School, Strode’s College, Eton College, Wellington College and Halliford School came to Royal Holloway to draft their clauses for a modern Magna Carta.
Winning Clauses
The winning clauses were:
- To increase the stability and fairness of the education system and appoint an expert panel for education to oversee the government’s key proposals for reform AND Politics governs our lives and is an integral part of our future. Therefore it should remain a compulsory subject until the age of 13.
- Everyone should have the right to a basic standard of living.
- Extension of the franchise to 16 year olds AND Fundamental public services should be protected from the individual agenda of the government of the day AND It should not be possible to take advantage of the benefit system and earn more than those earning the minimum wage.
