An Introduction to Mooting
Based on an introduction to mooting resource compiled by Duncan Bance of Strode’s College and used in the Magna Carta themed Moot held in the Supreme Court in June 2015.
These challenges, designed for infant and primary schools, are collaborative activities for the whole class that could form a unit of work spread over several lessons. Each activity has an output that can then be displayed in the classroom or school reception!

This is the Magna Carta inspired Moot Scenario Strode’s College students debated in the Supreme Court on Friday 19th June 2015.
In this activity pupils learn how to create their own Magna Carta, complete with a great seal. The activity also includes classroom debate prompts about needs vs. wants and rights and responsibilities .

A fun game to introduce pupils to some of the historical characters involved in the Magna Carta story. The goal is to collect enough characters to either compel John to agree to Magna Carta or to defeat the rebels – your choice. The card templates can be downloaded here
In this activity your class can create a comic book to tell the Magna Carta story. Starting with King John’s upbringing and ending with the coronation of John’s son, Henry, the activity introduces pupils to the broad history of the topic. The templates can be found here
In this activity your class is charged with designing a coat of arms to represent your class, school or town.
